Progress Together Chair and former Lord Mayor of the City of London Vincent Keaveny has been awarded a CBE in the first Birthday Honours List of His Majesty King Charles III.
He was given the award for services to Socio-Economic Advancement, to British-Irish relations, and to the City of London.
He held the office of Lord Mayor – acting as elected head of the City of London Corporation and global ambassador for the UK’s financial and professional services sector – for one year from November 2021.
During his term of office, Alderman Keaveny, the first Irish citizen to be Lord Mayor, championed greater socio-economic diversity in the sector, and co-chaired the Government-commissioned taskforce on the issue.
Alderman Vincent Keaveny said: “Being awarded the CBE is a special moment.
“I am pleased it acknowledges the work carried out in my term as Lord Mayor, which continues today as Chair of Progress Together, to make the City and the financial services sector a place where people can thrive and progress whatever background they come from.
“As a Dubliner and the first citizen of the Republic of Ireland to be Lord Mayor, I am also pleased it recognises my work to foster warm relations between the UK and Ireland, a central focus of my mayoralty.”
